My goodreads review:

Honestly, it depressed the freaking crap out of me. It's well written, but pitch black in tone.
Constant harping on how near to death and physically decaying our reclusive heroine is. I am also in my early 40's and it's not a cheerful line of thought.
It is well written, but horrible quite honestly. There's one cutting scene I nearly crawled off the chair reading.
The "romance" (if you'd call it that) is totally f****d. Callow young guy doing the dried up spinster a favour before moving on to younger pastures. Not that it quite goes down as planned, and that's not pleasant reading either. Also very hard to read scene with her over protective mother. Honestly really off putting and wrong.
I quite enjoy dark reading, but this was even a bit beyond me. I'm glad I had a chance to read it, but once was more than enough
