I have to say that by the time I finished this I didn't like it much at all. Yes, I wanted to keep reading and I wanted to find out what happened to Cady, but I thought the characters were dreadful stereotypes and (at the risk of leaping upon the critical bandwagon) finding out what happened to sad little rich kids with money-grabbing families was a bit off-putting. These were not sympathetic characters and finding out that the children were so incredibly stupid that they burned down the house to get their own way did not endear me to them. And then, the whole point of the book seemed to rely on the fact that the fire wasn't investigated which I found completely unbelievable.
