Not really a novel, more like a series of short stories. Not much depth and had it been longer and there not been a movie made from it I would have given up on it midway. Once finished I do not know how a movie could have been made from this.

Rather than a story of one man's life it appeared to be the larger-than-life recounting of a father's tales by his son.
