I was a big fan of 'The Weirdstone of Brisingamen' when I was younger and must have read it a couple of dozen times. I only realised there were sequels recently. I didn't like 'Moon of Gomrath' as much, but am looking forward to seeing what this one is like.

Hmmm. Ok, I'm not actually sure what to write or what to think about this book. 'Weridstone' was one of my favourite books as a child and I wore out my paperback copy. 'Gomrath' I only read more recently, not realising there was a sequel, and I kind of enjoyed that too. I was so excited when I found out there was a third book ...

This is most definitely not for children. Even as a very well read, mildly intelligent adult, I found the prose hard to follow. It's like poetry in some places, or a stream of consciousness, or just random words on a page. There are no chapter headings, and the 'action' swaps back and forth between two narrative, which is hard to begin with but does get easier as you continue.

So overall, I am torn. I kind of liked it and enjoyed reading it, but as a vessel to find out what happened to much loved characters, it kind of fell short and left a lot more questions in its wake. Maybe it will take more than one reading to gain a really good appreciation of it.

Arrived safe and sound.

Thanks very much for this and all the labels you sent me. My favourite one is the stairs that go up into the clouds.
