It is a blessing, that the book has a hopeful ending, because most of the story was pretty painful to read. I kept reminding myself, that I'm reading a work of fiction, but the way it is told made it pretty much impossible not to get sucked into the story and suffering along with the protagonist.
It was a bit of a relieve to learn later on, how the author made it very clear, that this is not an autobiographical story in any meaningful way.
