Hard to classify: Memoir? surgical tales? medical erthics? ruminations on the human condition? Could be any and all of the above. I enjoyed it, it made me think and discuss medical proceedures and doctors I have known (and loved and loathed in equal measure). Perhaps that is the true sucess of a book. Makes you think.
