I got this good-condition softcover at Savers, along with a couple of other "Tsubasa" volumes that I didn't have - score!
[See also the xxxHolic series that runs in parallel with this one; it's not essential, but the two do cross over now and then, with some tangled plot-threads that make more sense if you've read both. I've also enjoyed the anime of the series - it's got one of the best musical scores I've heard in an anime, or in any film or TV series come to that. I liked the music so much I bought the CD, and now when I read the manga I can hear the soundtrack in my head!]
This volume sees our gang settling in to the theme-park-Japan world of Oto, with Fai and Sakura working at the cafe while Syaoran and Kurogane hunt demons. There's a LOT of teasing between Fai and Kurogane here (well, Fai teases Kurogane mercilessly and Kurogane barely refrains from slaughtering Fai, but it comes to the same thing). One of my favorite scenes has Fai and Kurogane bickering - until a demon shows up, and they both gleefully go into battle, with the back-to-back-badass scene and everything. I love Kurogane's killer grin whenever he fights, and Fai's fantastic in action - though the outcome of the battle reveals a darker side to Fai, one that Kurogane has already spotted.
This arc is rather complex, with LOTS of characters from other CLAMP series making guest appearances, including Seishiro - who, for a change, is not yet another double in an alternate world, but is the same Seishiro who taught Syaoran how to fight when he was a kid. But how did he get here - and what does he want from them???
