I love Connie Willis, and this is a really fun, enjoyable read - even for those of us with little patience for the Victorian era! I'm a cat person, so that part of the plot definitely appealed to me (you'll figure out what I mean when you read it). Willis has a bunch of books that deal with the idea of future historians time-traveling, so if you like this one, give Doomsday Book or Blackout a try.
