From the back cover: What can be more idyllic than a summer in the Berkshires, sorting through James Joyce's letters to his publisher? What could be more peaceful than long walks in the woods with friends old and new? Well, just about anything. Kate Fansler finds that literary ability and love of nature are far less vital than supersleuthing skill when her next-door neighbor is murdered - and all her houseguests are prime suspects...

I quite enjoyed this book even though the murder actually seemed to have a minor role in the story... Well-written and entertaining!:) I will post this after Christmas...

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
The book is on its way to the next reader! Happy Reading! And Happy New Year 2015!:)
Thanks very much for sending me this Soozreader. Always lovely to get a parcel in January when its cold and grey. :-)
After recently receiving and reading the first book in the Kate Fansler series, I have finally read this one whilst on a very long train journey. I'm really enjoying the characters in these books. It's quite interesting to have mystery novels with female academic characters in the main roles. I really enjoyed Grace in this one.
I think i have identified another reader for this so will hopefully get it travelling again soon.

This book went to the top of my TBR list after it was chosen by another BCer in the Reverse Tag Game ( check it out, it's fun http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/10/491058 ) and I am very glad that it did. I enjoyed this book so much! It's the first I read by this author, and while parts of it are dated, I am surprised by how much of it is relevant for a book published in 1967. The characters are interesting, and I love the constant literary quotes and references that they use throughout. I also enjoyed how it was not just one person solving the mystery--as often happens, unrealistically--but rather a team effort. It was fascinating, and very enjoyable reading. I will definitely be on the lookout for more books by this author when I graze in my fav used book stores! Thanks again for sending it so far, bookfrogster!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
This book went out yesterday to its next reader -- apologies that it took me so long to get it off! Safe travels, little book - I really enjoyed this one and would love to find more by the author.
This little book arrived some time ago but because of issues logging in to BC, I am only now able to journal it.
Thanks lils74 for sending this on. It's always a pleasure to receive a book from the community. More so because it's from Nepal - a country I find really fascinating.

On it's way to the winner of the Tea & Mystery Sweeps. Enjoy!
Just back from a weekend at Dad's to find this on the mat! Thank you so much for this (and the other book), tea and Christmas Card.
The James Joyce Murder by Amanda Cross - OK
Another of my winnings from the Tea and Mystery Sweeps.
Professor Kate Fansler has been called upon to review the archive of James Joyce material left by Samuel Lingerwell to her University. This means she spends the Summer break living in his house in the country. Sharing this idyll is her young nephew, his tutor and a graduate she has roped in to help her go through all the papers. All would be wonderful if it wasn't for the neighbouring farmer's wife - a nasty piece of work with a vicious tongue.
Kate invites a number of friends to stay for a weekend and all goes swimmingly until said farmer's wife is accidentally shot.... or was she? Everyone staying at the house has a motive and could have made the switch that caused her death. It's up to Kate and her friends to work it out and find out just who the murderer is.
Written in 1967, it's a nice little read, but didn't hook me the way some vintage crime does. I'm not sure why.
