Last of the Lorain Legacy books - what a great series!!
From Indigo:
The seventh and final book in the #1 New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series! With United as One, this action-packed series comes to a surprising, breathtaking, and utterly satisfying conclusion. The Garde didn’t start this war, but they’ll do whatever it takes to end it once and for all. . . .
The Mogadorians have invaded Earth. Their warships loom over our most populated cities, and no country will risk taking them head on. The Garde are all that stand in the way, but they’ll need an army of their own to win this fight.
They’ve teamed up with the US military, but it might not be enough. The Garde need reinforcements, and they’ve found them in the most unexpected place. Teenagers from across the globe, like John Smith’s best friend, Sam, have developed abilities. So John and the others must get to them before the Mogs, because if they don’t their enemies will use these gifted teens for their own sinister plan.
But after all the Mogadorians have taken from John—his home, his family, his friends, and the person he loves most—he might not want to put any more lives in danger. He’s got nothing left to lose, and he’s just discovered he has been given an incredible new Legacy. Now he can turn himself into the ultimate weapon. So will he risk his life to save the world, or will he realize that power in numbers will save us all?

I am so excited to have this book in my hands! Thank you for passing this one to me outside of the meeting. Now to finally find out what happens.
I just couldn't wait to read this one so as soon as I finished my other book I dived into this one... Great book. I am sad that it is over, I have really enjoyed reading this series!

YES! BONUS got this book also! Just returned from the August meet up at Cravings and made myself and my husband very happy with returning with this book.
Bit slow at the beginning. Then it got engaging. Thought a couple of things at the end were strange - my husband did also i.e. the fate of 5.
I will have my daughter bring this back to the meeting as there are lots chomping at the bit to get them.
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing September meet-up. Last book in the series!
As endings go, it wasn't bad, but I feel like they could have gone further. Spoilers ahead...

Like, there are no major character deaths. Sarah and Mark James die, but they are secondary characters and not the main focus of the series. The only Garde who died during the course of the series was Eight. Everyone else comes out pretty much unscathed. If this is a big war, they should be huge causalities for the heroes. Yes, happy endings are nice, but for a series that pushes the violence and the language, you'd think the author would be brave enough to have something that drives the knife home. I also wasn't a big fan of how Four discovers he has the Ximic Legacy. How convenient that right before the big battle he's able to gain a bunch of powerful Legacies. They take over that warship in Canada way too easily.

I never really loved this series, so I'm not sad to see it end, but it was an enjoyable read.

Passing on this book to the next reader at the Calgary BookCrossing October meet-up.
Pick up at get together
I enjoyed this final book in the series, and read it pretty fast since I really wanted to know how things would finish. It broke from some of the patterns all the others seemed to fall into. I didn't find any big surprises, like I saw the Ximic legacy coming before hand. The ending was interesting - how the world turns out after the story is over. I also really liked the bit where they went to Canada... mostly just 'cause yay Canada, and how they presented the Canadian military, so that was fun for me.
Thanks for the interesting series!
