Journal Entry 3 by pinkoeria at Basingstoke, Hampshire United Kingdom on Thursday, September 4, 2014
Thank you so much for this book and the goodies. The book looks so funny, I am very much looking forward to reading it.
This was delightful and laugh-out-loud funny. Some things are just mind boggling, how rude can people be?!
Off to another BookCrosser - Merry Christmas!
How lovely, a little bit of humour to help the holiday go with a swing! This will be easily read I think and I'm happy to have the chance to read it . Thanks.

I really enjoyed reading this, it's hard to believe that real people said these things!!
"Do you have this children's book I've heard about? It's supposed to be very good. It's called "Lionel Richie and the Wardrobe."

Oh this looks like great fun & a perfect book for dipping in & out of (I usually have one of those on the go!) Thank you yorkshire-lass x
A amusing look at some of things people have apparently said in bookshops. I say apparently as some of then I just can't believe can have actually happened, but then there are a lot of strange folk about....
The quotes that to me were the funniest were the ones that actually seemed like they could have genuinely occurred & were usually where something had been misheard or misunderstood…
Customer: I don’t know why she wants it, but my wife asked for a copy of “The Dinosaur Cookbook”.
Bookseller: “The Dinah Shore Cookbook”?
Customer: That must be it: I wondered what she was up to
:o)

Journal Entry 17 by Nu-Knees at Knaresborough, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, February 19, 2020
This is one of the half a dozen books I brought home from the Leeds Lunchtime Midweek Meet today. I'm not sure why - but it seemed like a good idea at the time :-)
Journal Entry 18 by Nu-Knees at Knaresborough, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Thursday, February 20, 2020
Interesting. Possibly entertaining. Mind-boggling rather than amusing. And I'm afraid I'm totally sceptical about its veracity . . . .
To my daughter and her partner in the hope that one or other of them will deliver it to the BookCrossing bookshelves within Brigantes Bar and Brasserie, please - with or without reading it first, of course! Thank you :-)
Journal Entry 20 by tree-hugger at York, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, October 27, 2020
Sorry for the delay. Dropping it off at the Brigantes pub bookshelf was a good idea in early March but obviously that plan got scuppered by the pandemic. I think they went bust I'm afraid but I'll find a shelf to release it to after that kind of thing starts up again.
I did have a flick through myself but it didn't suit my sense of humour. I know a lot of the customers were annoying, but some of them I felt for to be honest - if they just made a misunderstanding or a joke which fell flat it seems a bit harsh to mock them in print. I guess I was supposed to empathise with the booksellers not the weird customers. Maybe it's the librarian in me, if somebody makes a stupid mistake about a really well known title or author that's great because you're engaging with a non-reader. Argh, I'm too much of a stick in the mud for this thread!!
