The Exiles Return: A Novel
4 journalers for this copy...
A novel written in the 1950's and translated into English by the author's grandson, this novel takes you into the post-war world of Austria - the exiles' returns are political, personal and financially motivated. Their worlds intertwine in a new Viennese society. The characters are compelling and de Waal was ahead of her time in tackling cultural issues. Won this book from Goodreads so leave a comment there as well.

Just returned from the August meet up at Cravings and have just about as many books as I brought.
Interesting book about Vienna in the years after the war. Made a person thoughtful about the many ways people were impacted and how many years later there was still so much going on. Hard to imagine being a returning exile.
I am bringing this to the January meetup at Cravings to pass on to the next reader.
Picked this up at the March meeting. Adding it to my Bookshelf to read.
