Wish You Were Here

Another library sale cart that I got for free because I was there so early they didn't have the cashbox set up yet. I was just informed of this "Sneaky Pie Brown" at the last meetup.
I'm not much of a mystery fan, but I really enjoyed this one. I think I've found a new series for my friend Hexaba to get hooked on.
My experience with Rita Mae Brown has been through Ruby Fruit Jungle, which has a lot of social commentary and is a very powerful story. I was glad that Brown didn't put aside her social views to write a mystery. This has the feel of a typical mystery, but with a little more substance to it.
Sent to England 5/12.

A nice, easy mystery read.
Book Description
Curiosity just might be the death of Mrs. Murphy--and her human companion, Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen. Small towns are like families: Everyone lives very close together. . .and everyone keeps secrets. Crozet, Virginia, is a typical small town-until its secrets explode into murder. Crozet's thirty-something post-mistress, Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen, has a tiger cat (Mrs. Murphy) and a Welsh Corgi (Tucker), a pending divorce, and a bad habit of reading postcards not addressed to her. When Crozet's citizens start turning up murdered, Harry remembers that each received a card with a tombstone on the front and the message "Wish you were here" on the back. Intent on protecting their human friend, Mrs. Murphy and Tucker begin to scent out clues. Meanwhile, Harry is conducting her own investigation, unaware her pets are one step ahead of her. If only Mrs. Murphy could alert her somehow, Harry could uncover the culprit before the murder occurs--and before Harry finds herself on the killer's mailing list.

I've heard of this author and her cat, but have never read anythng by her...saw this one on the relays and thought it a perfect opportunity to give her a go. Thanks. Danesnboxers for offering t.
Ths was a fun, whimsical little mystery. I enjoyed it enough to keep reading to the end (I did guess whodunit before the 'slueths' did), but I doubt I'll hunt down others in this series.
