I'm adding in some details from the cover.

"Specially selected by award-winning editor Al Sarrantonio, these thirty extraordinary works encompass the expanding universe of speculative fiction, including hard and soft science fiction, fantasy, horror, and experimental and conventional literary fiction."

This over 600 page book includes stories by:

Joe Haldeman, UrsulaK. Le Guin, and Harry Tutledove to name a few whose names I recognize. Looks like it has a great variety of genres. I know that someone will really enjoy this one!

Released on Friday, June 18, 2004 at fellow bookcrosser in fellow bookcrosser, postal release USA.

The book is traveling to the next bookcrosser as part of a bookrelay. Enjoy!

Well i wasn't exactly overwhelmed by the "extreme speculative fiction" myself. Some people's ideas of "extreme" don't seem to correlate with mine thats for sure. For "extreme", read some of Stephen Baxter's stuff ... they definitely have a way of bending the space-time around you. None of the stories in this book even come close to crimping the space-time continuum. Well not that i noticed anyway.
