This book was a birthday gift by the ABC, the American Book Store in Amsterdam. I could not believe my eyes when I approached the Spui yesterday. Next to the ABC there is a small square, and when I arrived I saw a crowd of people and some mountains of books..

And to my surprise, and imagine, this is a dream coming true for each reader or/and BookCrosser, all the books part of these mountains of books, turned out to be free to take with you. As a gift by the ABC because of their 42th Birthday.

Well, it was kind of sad too. The original thought was to create a sculpture of books book. But then, on a very sunny afternoon, there was some rain and the sculpture collapsed. And people started to grab books, or the ABC decided to abandon the idea of a book sculpture. I do no know which idea was first.

It was a heartbreaking thing to see, all those books lay down on the pavement. It fed my need to adopt a lot of them, however I felt kind of ashamed to take so many books with me. I informed the ABC staff of my idea to use the books they donated to me for BookCrossing and they were pleased.

And what more could I do then at least sing a Happy Birthday song as a thank you for all this beautiful stuff. Anyway, there were plenty of beautiful books,such as this book. It was the cover image that made me decide to take it with me.

I hope you enjoy the book. I had a lot of fun reading this on board the train towards my hometown.
