One of my absolute favourites - I just ordered a second copy just for BookCrossing.
Imagine a planet (Athos) with a 100 % male population and where contact with females is considered DANGEROUS. They even have their own means of reproduction (well, that is, they've got a reproduction center and their own ovarian "provisions"). Imagine this ovarian tissues are now running low. A major crisis -extinction- threatens Athos and so the government decided their top obstetitrician has to go off-planet in quest of new tissue. Only now he encounters the most alian of aliens - females of his own species. And gets entrangled in intrigue, adventure, and eventually even finds the time to fall in love (ah, sweet & complicated Terence ).
Strictly speaking this may not be "gay" literature, but plays nicely with the concept of a society in which one gender is the rule - and the usual heterosexuality is considered tabu.
And: it's FUN, a great read and a far cry from all those "problematic" reads or any "artificial" life-style.
