I had this book given to me as a Christmas present back in 1999 or 2000 but only just read it as it didn't really appeal to me, but I was pleasantly surprised. I actually really enjoyed it. I am not normally one for horror or fantasy type novels but this was really good and kept me enthralled right until the end. I really liked the main character and was rooting for him all the way.
Perhaps I had better look out for some more James Herbert books!
