This is a 1945 Alfred A. Knopf hardbound edition of this classic work illustrated with beautiful black and white illustrations. It was given to Jean on her 21st birthday on May 31, 1948. Jean is now 76 years old and her book is going on an adventure.

I am incorrigible; however, I could not resist this 1945 printing of a title I already own.
The illustrations ("The twelve illustrations in this volume are reproduced from original drawings by the author.") and cover embossed picture make it a jewel, even without the personal note to Jean on her 21st birthday (May 31, 1948). Inside the back cover is a label from Hudon's Book Shop (Detroit). The verso of the title page has a flying eagle, holding a book in his talons and a banner in his beak saying: "BOOKS ARE WEAPONS IN THE WAR ON IDEAS."
Unless I change my mind, this one will stay with me! I hope you don't mind, Book Wizard.

I'm glad you like The Prophet. You can make it part of your permanent collection as long as you release it when you are finished with it. You will know when that is. I am glad that that lovely book has found a wonderful friend like you to be with.
Please reset the status to traveling and I'll release it.
