Outlander

I loved this book when I read it about 18-19 years ago. Diana Gabaldon is coming to When Words Collide this year, so I picked this book up to share with my Bookcrossing group.
I took this book to the Calgary Bookcrossing meeting to find a reader.
Enjoy!

received book at Cravings Market Restaurant Saturday April 12, 2014.
Taking to the September meet-up of Calgary BookCrossers, to find a new reader.
I don't remember putting my name on this book. I really don't remember anything about this book really... but now that I'm noticing Diana Galbadon's name everywhere, I guess I should try a book of hers. Looking forward to the read. It sounds like a pageturner.
Picked up at yesterday's Calgary bookcrossing meetup.

I don't know what to make of this book. It's a giant tome that took forever for me to get through... In part because I kept putting it down, in part because it's a massive tome!! But the characters were interesting, the premise was interesting, the setting was absorbing, but I was never sure where the plot was leading.
I might pick up another book to see where the time travel aspect leads to, but I don't feel compelled to read another book in this series.
Will be brought to the next BookCrossing meetup in Calgary, or I might just hand it off to BookyMcBooks. Apparently he wants to read it too.

Picked this up from Crataegus.
I ken the Outlander series has a large following, and understandably so. 'Tis well written, and has a verra interesting premise.
That said, this isna my kind o' book. I think it was written wi' a different audience in mind for certain.
If I traveled back in time, I dinna think I'd recommend this book to miself.

Bringing this to February Calgary BookCrossing meetup.
Picked up at get together
This is a very well constructed story. I loved the wide range of characters, and how they were all woven together. Also really like the random Loch Ness monster sighting and the idea that she was also a temporary victim of time travel.
I wasn't really expecting the ending to be left as open as it was, but it seemed to tie everything nicely together. The novel also did a good job depicting that day and age. Though it definitely had a feel of being written for women.
Thanks for the interesting read.
