Well, it wasn't so bad. The interesting part is about the commissioning and making of an investigative TV series. The murder mystery investigation at times seems forced and awkward, for example when the dinner party conversation is heavy-handedly turned to a dscussion of blood types ("Oh, come on Daddy, let's go round the table (...) I think it's a fascinating new kind of game. Maybe we should all go off and have blood tests or something.") It's a little too convenient. I think Jemima Shore, the investigator, is in other novels by the same author, but I thought the character development in this was rather sketchy. I hope the next person enjoys it more though.

Sending this to Arrietty in Australia!

Asked Freesia to send me this book as I was in Oxford last year. I'm looking forward to reading it. And thanks for the card - I got it straight away, it was a man on a surfboard. My partner is still trying to work it out.....

Well I didn't finish the book in the end, although I had to sneak a look at the ending just to see 'who dun it'. I found it rather convoluted and didn't really understand some of the references to upper-class manners etc. All the same I did recognise some of the colleges in Oxford as I was there last year and I did enjoy that part of it and I wouldn't have guessed the twist at the end. Someone else might enjoy this so have left it ouside a cafe in Hindley Street.
