Over the years I've read a number of books and essays on drug abuse but this is by far the best "story" I've ever read about the subject. I had never heard of Philip Dick and was surprised when I found out that he is not only an amazing writer but one of my favourite films of all time is based on one of his stories: Blade Runner.

I'm not sure as to the timeline of the story but one thing is for sure, be it past or future, the ideas here are clear and concise. The story follows an undercover narcotics officer as he travels deeper and deeper into the drug world, using to pass as the "real thing". This isn't just some lowly drug though, it's "Substance D", the most highly addictive drug on the market. The beauty of this story is that what you get is not all there is. I'll say no more as it'll ruin the story...

I was also surprised at some of the tidbits that reminded me of some other Sci Fi authors, particularly William Gibson. Who would blame him, Dick is obviously a sci fi genious. Now that I've had a taste, I can't wait to get my hands on more of Dick's work!

Oh yeah, this is also being made into a movie starring my favourite SciFi action hero, Keanu Reeves! Check this out for details!
