one of my favourite books - bought to send to Brookler as part of a challenge where we shared books from our home countries, but stupidly forgot to register! This book is now with Brookler, I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks so much for sending this book. Scotland is one of my favourite places! Creepy cover though....
Enjoy it?! Oh my god, this book is so disgusting, gross, and sick. "Fuckin" and "cunt" are the two most common words and it's the rare paragraph that doesn't contain both. A series of plotless vignettes rather than a novel, with graphic descriptions of mindless violence, vomit, diarrhea, etc. and characters too repulsive to identify with or care about. Very depressing.
I stuck it out to within 25 pages of the end, but can't stomach any more. It wins the prize for the worst book I ever read. Which just goes to show you that we all have different tastes, lol.
Oct 19 2017 - Found someone who has this book on her wishlist, so I'm happy to get rid of it, lol. Sending as a surprise RABCK and hope she enjoys it more than I did.

Thank you, Brookler, for sending me this book (and the lovely postcard) to me. It was a nice surprise to get this RABCK! Seeing the wildly differing reviews of the book makes me even more intrigued by it. A number of people had recommended this book (as well as the movie adaptation), so I'm definitely eager to give it a try.
After reading the first few chapters, I was convinced that this book wasn't for me. However, I persevered and I'm so glad I did. Once I got past the vulgarity and the challenge of the dialect, I found myself absorbed in the characters' stories. Some moments were very touching and others incredibly funny. I especially liked "Bad Blood", the story of how Davie takes his revenge, though it certainly had its appalling moments before the ending is revealed.
Thanks to pam99 for sharing this book and to Brookler for sending it to me!

I put this book down after the first few chapters unsure of whether this was my type of book or whether I could wade through the dialect and the rough subject matter. I picked it back up a few days ago though and did manage to get through it. Still not a favorite but worth the time.
I'd forgotten that this book ended up back on my shelves. I will be releasing it soon.
Sending this 1001 book to mcsar as an RABCK.
Thank you for sending this. Greatly appreciated, but I will listen to you and not hurry to read this. I am quite behind on my reading commitments and mount TBR is getting higher and higher.
