A Christmas mystery.

Although Kelly Knowlson firmly thought her newly remarried ex-husband, Evan, would return to her, did she set him by the fire, egg nog by his side, THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS in his hands, and put a bullet in his head? By the time the police show up, the body is gone, so of course Kelly is the prime suspect. Between molding cheese balls and salmon mousse for a holiday dinner, suburban sleuth Susan Henshaw fits in a little yultetide detecting to discover if Kelly Knowlson iced her ex. And if not, who would dare send such an uncharitable Christmas greeting...? (amazon.com)

I can't believe this! When I went to look around what books were released during the flashmob, there was this. "Oh, this looks interesting", I though - AND IT WAS FROM A FINNISH BOOKCROSSER!
Attached pic is from Hampstead, London, where my journey continued (back home now).

Began reading this as Christmas is approaching quickly and it is time to send a mystery book to the lucky winner of the Tea & Mystery Sweeps. I'll be off to the UK in a few day's time, so I'll be able to post this from there.
Very American bunch of ladies star this book.

Hmm, Fjords of Finland are mentioned, but we do not have fjords (Norway, our next door neighbour has). The scenery was compared to New Zealand, where I've never been, but somehow I doubt that piece of information as well as us having the best food in the world. Somehow I have a feeling that 'the best' here does not imply to non-genemanipulated, hormone-free and lacking antibiotic residue which does actually make it darn good, even if we do not have the best recipes.

We Wish You a Merry Murder by Valerie Wolzien - OK

The third of my tea and mystery sweepstakes winnings and perfect timing to read it.

Set in an upmarket town in Connecticut (which I presume is somewhere near New York and is commuter belt for rich business men), the ladies of the town are running around preparing for Christmas and doing the rounds of the social engagements.

It is Kelly Knowlson's first Christmas post divorce, not helped by her ex, Evan, not only remarrying but returning to the town and building a new house directly behind his old marital home. Just how are Kelly and new wife Rebecca going to deal with this and avoid each other socially?

All this comes to a head when Evan is found in his old home with a bullet in his head! Not only that, but the corpse disappears before the police can arrive and Kelly is either suspect number 1 or unstable enough to have imagined it.

Determined to find out who the real murderer is and clear their friend Kelly, friends Susan and Kathleen get on the case.

The only thing that bugged me was the way these rich, over privileged, women ran around after their rich over privileged husbands.... eg buying presents for their husbands to give to their secretaries etc. Doesn't sit well for me, but that's just the setting and nothing more.

Thank you very much for this wishlist book and for the tea! Christmas seems so far away as we've had an unexpected heat wave this week. But next week we'll get back to normal with a lot cooler weather.

This was a fairly good cozy mystery though I think at times there was some confusion, for example, a person not having met another person before even if they had spent a night under the same roof earlier.. And I had a laugh-out-loud moment due to the fjords of Finland. It made me think that the character was lying about travelling to Finland though I doubt it was the author’s intentention.
