Second Skin (Nocturne City, Book 3)

Luna is a cop and a werewolf, trying not to let let one aspect interfere with the other. But when someone starts killing werewolves from each major pack in a bizarre, ritualized manner, her work and personal life intersect. No one seems to know who or what could be performing the killings, but Luna stubbornly digs until some one lets it slip that there are Wendigo, native shapeshifters driven out by the weres, living on the fringes of town, whose powers match the killings found.
I've read other work by Kittredge, but not this series. I generally steer clear of Urban Fantasy, but I've enjoyed her work so when I saw this on bag day at the library booksale, I took it. I expected to feel out of the loop by starting in the middle, but the book is mainly confined to this case. I know I was missing some of the background between Luna and Dmitri, but that was the only sub-plot I felt needed the other books to inform me on.
The book isn't perfect, there are some bad cliches and some horribly stupid names (a werewolf named Luna Wilder, for example), but mostly the book is plot driven, and if there are inconsistencies, we blow past them on a wild ride. It is a fun, action-packed book with entertaining, if not imaginative, characters. I found it great for reading while running at the gym and as a fluff read. I'll have to keep an eye out for the rest of the series.

Sent out as a RABCK. Enjoy!
Thank you for the RABCK! I couldn't wait so I jumped right in and just finished this one. I agree with emmejo on the plot and the names but found that I would like to read the whole series too. So I'm keeping my eyes open for this author whom I have just been introduced. This book will be on it's way to a new book lover soon.~
