Journal Entry 1 by baaic from Edmonton, Alberta Canada on Wednesday, January 7, 2004
I've enjoyed to some degree or another, all of the Vorkosigan books that I've read to this point. I gather that this book is a turning point in Miles' life, but it seems that Bujold is risking a lot of the reader's sympathy for the main character in the early pages.

Well, Bujold's gamble mostly pays off, though she distracts a bit with a mystery plot that seems rushed at the end. But otherwise, there are some great dialogue sequences and character development as Miles revisits his past and comes to a realization about the direction that his life will probably be heading.

The fishing scene was pretty outrageous, and entirely worth the time spent on the book.

This is a journal of a library copy. If I get my hands on a releasable copy, I will do so with this number.
