8 out of 10

I picked this book up at our yearly Bookcrossing meeting at Castricum. I was a bit late at the meeting, but there still was a lot of choice! This book will be in my library for a while, but I promise sincerely to read and release it as quick as possible!
It's January now, and I have read this novel, and the first 2 in the series. I really like these mysteries!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Hi there!
You have caught me! More information on me or on bookcrossing can be found on this website (www.bookcrossing.com).

You can register (anonymous if you like) that you have found me. Read me and then release me again.

You can do that by bringing me to an OBCZ (Google this: Official BookCrossing Zone and find out where the nearest to you is located),
Or you can hand me to a friend, family or colleague,
Or you just leave me on a bench in the park, or at the railway station, where-ever there’s people waiting, relaxing. But don’t put me in your bookcase, that will make me unhappy! Because I like to travel and meet new people!

Have fun!

Book burble: A NOVEL OF SUSPENSE FEATURING MARY RUSSEL AND SHERLOCK HOLMES

“THE GREAT MARVEL OF KING’S SERIES IS THAT SHE’S MANAGED TO PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY OF HOLME’S CHARACTER AND YET SOMEHOW CONJURE UP A WOMAN ASTUTE, EDGY, AND COMPELLING ENOUGH TO BE THE PARTNER OF HIS MIND AS WELL AS HIS HEART… SUPERB.” –Washington Post Book World
“A LIVELY ADVENTURE IN THE VERY BEST OF INTELLECTUAL COMPANY.” –New York Times Book Review

Late in the summer of 1923, Mary Russell Holmes and her husband, the illustrious Sherlock Holmes, are ensconced in their home on the Sussex Downs, giving themselves over to their studies: Russell to her theology, and Holmes to his malodorous chemical experiments. Interrupting the idyllic scene, amateur archaeologist Miss Dorothy Ruskin visits with a startling puzzle. Working in the Holy Land, she has unearthed a tattered roll of papyrus with a message from Mary Magdalene. Miss Ruskin wants Russell to safeguard the letter. But when Miss Ruskin is killed in a traffic accident, Russell and Holmes find themselves on the trail of a fiendishly clever murderer.

“A WONDERFUL BOOK. SIMULTANEOUSLY INVENTIVE, CHARMING WITTY AND SUSPENSEFUL. I LOVED IT.” –Elizabeth George
“AN INTELLECTUAL PUZZLES. FULL OF BRIGHT RED HERRINGS AND DAZZLING ASIDES.” –Chicago Tribune

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Crumbs, what a treat this was, compellingly mysterious and thrillingly entertaining. Great praise puff quoted on the cover pleasingly covers points I wanted to make so I can only be grateful to reviewers before me, in particular the reviewer of the Washington Post Book World. Reading a book series out of sequence has its perils and I’d prefer not to do it but I cracked and dived in having this close to my hand. And knowing another reader was keen to get their hands on this happily offered good excuse though I’ve subsequently discovered I was mistaken in that assumption. Hey ho!

Having whizzed through and held THE LETTER OF MARY and THE MOOR in readiness for another reader I now discover has these already I decided to release these two books onto the Official BookCrossing Zone bookshelf at the Flimhouse. High time I scratched around for the first book in series, not an easy task as my book piles are in much disarray.
