I've catogorised this under Cooking, Food and Wine but this book is much more than that. It is the autobiography of a food writer and so much more. This book will appeal to middle-class Englishmen of a certain age...the age when prawn cocktail was the height of sophistication and you took care with who you gave your sherbert love hearts to.

This is a real rollercoaster of a read which had me crying tears of laughter and of pain. Anyone wanting to understand middle England in the sixties and early seventies should read this. Not everything that happened to Nigel happened to all of us but I think something in this book will touch anyone who grew up in that period.

You'll have to get your own copy though, this one is staying firmly on my bookshelf for a few years to come :-).

PS. Another one the BC database couldn't find. ISBN 0-00-769016-9 :-)
