An entertaining read, although about a depressing lifestyle most of us know little about. It's a story within a story; the story of the cat being allowed to go to the point of silliness, which is acceptable in the context here, and as Billy O'Shannessy is the supposed author of that, Bryce Courtenay can get away with it. The story has a happy ending for the main characters, which I liked. I found the writing style a bit old fashioned, but it was fine.

Released 7 yrs ago (12/27/2016 UTC) at State Library of NSW, Macquarie Street in Sydney CBD, New South Wales Australia

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Released near the statue of Matthew Flinders and the statue of Trim, his cat. Much of the story is set here with Trim and the bench where the homeless story teller slept. The bench is just outside of the photograph. There was a homeless man lying on the bench while I was here. I couldn't think of a more apt place to leave this book, but here, where the story happened. I left two copies of the book, and one was quickly picked up.

Photograph: Matthew Flinders Statue, with the statue of Trim behind.
