Synopsis:
"One of the most celebrated and popular historical romances ever written. The Three Musketeers tell the story of the early adventures of the young Gascon gentleman d'Artagnan and his three friends from the regiment of the King's Musketeers-Athos,Porthos and Aramis.

Under the watchful eye of their patron M. de Treville, the four defend the honour of the regiment against the guards of the Cardinal Richelieu, and the honour of the queen against the machinations of the Cardinal himself as the power struggles of seventeenth-century France are vividly played out in the background.

But their most dangerous encounter is with the Cardinal's spy. Milady, one of literature's most memorable female villains."

Journal Entry 2 by Boekentrol at Leeuwarden, Fryslân (Friesland) Netherlands on Saturday, May 8, 2021
After reading this book for the second time, my opinion about it didn't change much. I finished the book, mostly because I was curious to see how it would end, but that was about the only reason.

I disliked the musketeers. Despite the introduce themselves to be gentlemen, they lie, cheat, break the law and do all the God has forbidden.
The lady they are chasing is doing the same thing, only in a more ladylike fashion. Although... I find killing or geting someone to kill for you not very ladylike.

This one with all the intrigues, cunning, drinking and lady chasing, I will happily leave behind.
