Sula
2 journalers for this copy...
The story of two girls in Ohio during the early part of the 20th century in the Bottoms neighborhood of Medallion, Ohio. The Bottoms was so named as it was sold to Blacks after the Civil War with the promise it was rich valley land. Of course it was on the rocky crest of the hill, while the rest of Medallion nestled in the rich farms of the river valley.
Nel lives with her parents, in one of the best houses of the Bottoms, and Sula lives with her firece grandmother, and her lackadasical mother. Both are solitary little girls who once they find each other are inseperable friends, the two combining to be a richer whole.
As life goes on their relationship has to change, and that change comes hard. Lovely writing, and some very evocative images.
Fly far little book!

I never got a chance to read this book. I am going to put it in the give-away area at my work and see if anyone would like it!
