The book you are holding once belonged to my friend, Teddy: one of the greatest men that I have ever known. He was the type of guy you could visit in the hospital and he'd make YOU feel better. He was always reaching out to his friends to say hello, share some news, and to remind you that today, right now, was possibly the most important day of your life.
Teddy was big on SF and Fantasy... his love of dragons reflected this... but when Peter Christopoulos gave me Teddy's books for this project, I was surprised by three things... 1} the number of authors that Teddy and I seemed to enjoy and have in common, 2}The Teddy read so many, many books (we'd never talked about books... oh, the conversations we could have had!!! -- Well, as I come across and register these books, I'll have to have little mini one way conversations with Teddy) and 3} When Teddy liked a book very much he never let it go, reading it and rereading it until the covers were falling apart, barely holding a sheaf of soft tissue papers together...
If you knew Teddy and this book ends up with you, PLEASE tell a little story about Teddy. Read the book, if you like. Don't read the book. Share the book, don't share the book... wild release it or keep it forever, it's all good, but PLEASE leave us all a little story about Teddy.
If you have never known Teddy, that's fine, too. Teddy always liked making new friends. And now, by holding this book in your hands, you've been touched by Teddy, like I have and (judging by his funeral) hundreds of people have. Read the book or give it to another friend, right a review or just let us know where the book is now, release it or keep it forever... it's all good. But I do want to hear from this book, it'll be like a phone call or text from Teddy...
Remember, today might really be the most important day of your life.
This seemed a more complicated story than the other Hawk and Fisher stories. I was sort startled to suddenly have multiple viewpoints halfway in. The other H&F stories I have read were just from the POV of the two leads.
Other than that little bump, it was a fine story with a mystery that kept me guessing about the actual criminals.
