The Well of Lost Plots

Blurb:
Leaving Swindon behind her, to hide out in the Well of Lost Plots - the place where all fiction is created - Thursday Next, Literary Detective and soon-to-be one parent family, ponders her next move from inside an unpublished novel of dubious merit entitled Caversham Heights. Her husband, Landen, exists only in her memories and with Goliath and the Chronoguard on her tail in the real world, the safest place for her to be is inside the covers of a book.
But changes are afoot within the world of fiction. The much-awaited upgrade to the centuries-old book system --- in which grammasites will be exterminated, punctuation standardised and the number of possible plots increased from eight to an astonishing thirty-two --- is only weeks away. But if this is the beginning of a golden age in fictional narrative, then why are Jurisfiction agents mysteriously dying? Perkins is eaten by the minotaur, Snell succumbs to the Mispeling Vyrus and Godot is missing.
****************************
Lovely entertainment, just like the other books in the Thursday Next series, full of brilliant ideas and witty humour. I love all the references to great works of literature.

Oh my - I can't believe the amount of imagination Mr. Fforde has! These books in the series are just brilliant, so clever and really quite breathtaking! Oh, and I loved the fact that one of my fav. books, Brideshead Revisited, had a tiny part in this story too :)
And now travelling to Canada!
And now travelling to Canada!
Thank you so much for sending this to me Chania! I'm away from home right now but this will be sent along to Megami-no-ushi who has been eagerly anticipating any jasper fforde's books she can get ahold of. I'll be sure to read this once I'm done book 2.
Hopefully I can return the favour someday. I'm so sad I didn't get to visit northern Finland while I was there and go to more Bookcrossing meetups - but hopefully I can go back again in the future. What a beautiful country!

Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing December meeting. Yay, the next book in the series! Can't wait to see what Thursday does next.
My god, these books are so good. I don't know where Fforde gets all of his ideas from, but they're so original and fun. I loved seeing how things worked in the Book World and in the Well of Lost Plots. The ending has a slight deus ex machina to it, but it was so close to the end of the book that it doesn't really interrupt the story too much. The series, as always, makes me aware of the many classics I haven't read, but you don't need a deep knowledge to appreciate the jokes. Can't wait to check out the next book in the series.
Passing this book on to the next reader at the Calgary BookCrossing January meet-up.
Shoot, I forgot to check this back in onto my shelf. I'm holding on to this until the first two books get some more readers.
Passing on this book to the next reader at the Calgary BookCrossing April meet-up.
My daughter brought this back for me from the April meetup. Looking forward to another Thursday Next book!
Oooo- another Thurday Next. I do enjoy these books - you can't help chuckling at ties to the literary world yet you get quite caught up in the story. Reading the 'next' one right away!
I am bringing back a bunch of books to the August meetup at Cravings.
Picked up at August get together
Really enjoyed the third book! I love the world building in book world, and the collection of characters, and the footnote conversations. A little predictable towards the end, but still very enjoyable.
Thanks for the fun read!
