I discovered this series via its TV Tropes page, and have enjoyed the first few volumes - as well as the anime adaptation on the Crunchyroll site here. I'm sufficiently hooked to want to follow the series farther. Picked up this copy at Barnes and Noble.

Later: This volume opens in the aftermath of the Survey Corps expedition, with the suddenly-depopulated character-list in the front of the book giving some idea of the devastation. Even worse, Eren's going to have to appear before the court again, to answer for what happened, and if he's handed over to the Military Police it'll be the end of him. We also get some character development between members of the Military Police, including Annie, who'd been a trainee with Eren and friends: it's a rather gritty debate about the nature of good and evil, and whether those who put their own interests ahead of others are the bad ones - or just the normal ones?

Armin runs into Annie too, and they continue the discussion, with Armin pointing out that helping one person might result in harming someone else, so it's possible that being a good person depends on viewpoint. [Too much philosophy for a story about bizarre giants devouring people? Nah!]

Meanwhile, Eren's friends have concocted a plan to defend him from the court by producing some new evidence, the nature of which becomes clear when Armin reveals a devastating secret: the identity of the female titan, and the reasons why he believes this. A trap is sprung, another battle-of-the-titans kicks in, with more mayhem all around - and this one ends with two revelations, one about yet another ability of the female titan, and the other...

Well, to give away the other revelation would spoil a jaw-dropping moment in the story. This reveal does appear in the anime, but only at the very last moment of the final episode of the first season; here, it's still relatively early in the story, but it's a real shocker, one that may change everything that people have believed about titans so far. What a story!
