My usual instinct when finishing a classic is to leave it unregistered on BookCrossing and just file it away on my keeper shelves - but I really don't need such a large collection of classics, especially those that I didn't particularly enjoy and know I'll never be tempted to reread! So, I'm registering this strange and anarchic tale of anarchists and anarchy and sending it on its way to find a new reader!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Carrying Christmas and New Year Greetings into Derbyshire!

Over two million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 more than ten million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!

Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't cost anything and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!

This book was waiting for me when I got in from work. What a very pleasant surprise. Many thanks I look forward to reading it.

In many respects this is a very simple plot about an attack on a British building concocted by a foreign power and packed with characters that are allegorical in nature, the wily foreigner Mr Vladimir, the meddling policeman Chief Inspector Heat and his ambitious boss, a haughty politician in Sir Ethelred, yet it is one full of powerful emotions. Love, pride and duplicity to name but a few.

So saying all that why did I not give it a higher rating. To be perfectly honest I felt that the author rather over-indulged in the minutia of minor details which stopped rather than enhanced the flow of the story for my taste. That said it is still a worthy read.

Classic story, I saw the TV version few years ago and liked it; the book matched the expectations, satisfyingly got more intense at the end.
