I'm so glad I had the chance to read this book before sending it travelling to Bulgaria as a Secret Santa book swap gift. It brought back memories of the heatwave in 1976 ( the year I got married), working my summer job - cleaning a clothing factory.
Robert Riordan goes missing which re-unites his children including his estranged daughter Aoife. As the siblings work through their differences with each other and their own families the whereabouts of Robert is discovered forcing their mother to reveal her long held secret.

Quite enjoyed the rich and meaningful language of Maggie O`Farrell who once again has managed to create a story that is subtle and at the same time, packed with psychological details & dynamics of family tensions and hidden battles. It adds also a historical perspective bringing out the memory of London drought in 1976. My only complaint was about the ending which definitely was rushed. The knots resolved too easily and it`s a pity since the writer managed to tie them so masterfully.
