Always on the lookout for Christmas books, that I tuck away till November, I found this in a second hand store in Nanton, Alberta. As it is now November I am into my Christmas stash to "get in the holiday spirit"
From amazon.ca
Disillusioned journalist Tom Langdon must get from Washington to L.A. in time for Christmas. Forced to take the train across the country because of a slight "misunderstanding" at airport security, he begins a journey of self-discovery and rude awakenings, mysterious goings-on and thrilling adventures, screwball escapades and holiday magic. He has no idea that the locomotives pulling him across America will actually take him into the rugged terrain of his own heart, as he rediscovers people's essential goodness and someone very special he believed he had lost. Equal parts hilarious, poignant, suspenseful, and thrilling. David Baldacci's THE CHRISTMAS TRAIN is filled with memorable characters who have packed their bags with as much wisdom as mischief...and shows how we do get second chances to fulfill our deepest hopes and dreams, especially during this season of miracles.

I really enjoyed this book. Slow to start but then it got interesting. Now I want to take a train trip! Could say lots but don't want to give a spoiler. Loved the ending...
I am taking this book to our monthly bookcrossers meet up at cravings - the second Saturday of every month- to pass on to the next reader.
Picked this up at the December bookcrossing meeting. Looking forward to reading it.
Took me a while to get into it but once I did I enjoyed it. Not your typical Hallmark Christmas type book. The characters were interesting and the ending somewhat of a surprise.
Taking this to the January bookcrossing meeting at Cravings
Picked up at the January Bookcrossing meeting.
Couldn't get into it so passing it along to the next person on the list.
Picked up at get together
A little bit of mystery, some romance, and a bunch of crazy Christmas miracles.
It took me a bit to get into the book. The story had a moment of what I considered an unnecessary implausible plot device. I mean, I only know so much about trains, but when I see an obvious solution that all the fictional experienced train personnel do not... that's stretching it too far.
Otherwise I really enjoyed the story. I enjoyed all the quirky characters, and all the cheesy events that happened. I didn't figure out the mystery before they revealed the truth, which was great. And I always love a happy ending. I wish there were more trains that could be travelled on over long distances.
Thanks for the fun read.

This was given to me after the last meeting as no one else was interested in it. I haven't read it yet so will hold onto it for next Christmas.
This book is being released into Book Box 1. We may not be able to meet in person but our books can still unite us.
I pulled this from our Covid Book Box #1.
Loved this Christmas story - a glimpse of train life and all those interpersonal things that were happening. Bit of love thrown in their, mysterious disappearance of things and interesting characters that ride the trains.
Returning this to crossingguardma while having a delightful visit.
Back in my hands awaiting the next reader.
Passed on to my brother…a Baldacci fan. Maybe we can go on a train ride together. We last went when we were 4 and 6!
