Taylor Greer has tow goals: not to become pregnant and to get away. She succeeds in doing both, but somewhere along the way "inherits" Turtle, a 3-year-old American Indian girl. The rest of the story tells how Taylor meets the human condition head-on.

I loved The Bean Trees. Barbara Kingsolver writes really great fiction. Now I'm off to read Pigs in Heaven, the sequel!
