Strange Weather in Tokyo

This was such a lovely, simple story - very Japanese. The story of a pair who don't quite fit in, a 40 year old loner and her old high school teacher in his 80's. A very slow moving love story. Really shouldn't work, but I was moved to tears at the end.
Would be a particular treat for those interested in, or who have visited Japan. The descriptions are delightful of the food etc.
Enjoyed it so much I am considering offering it as a ray.

Arrived safely today! Thanks for sending.
A touching story, beautifully written. Very slow and simple, but that's its charm exactly. Very Japanese -as far as I can tell. I suggested the book to my sister, who is very fond of Japanese culture, and she loved it. It took me longer to read it than it should, because I was very busy lately. Not the best circumstances for this kind of book, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. Thank you very much romy86 for introducing and sharing it!
It will be passed to Okyrhoe very soon.

Book is with me. Thanks romy86 for including me in the ring!

On its way to Vaga-bonde. Enjoy!
There was fear for a while that this book was lost, but I got it yesterday so all is well. Thank you okyrhoe for sending it.
This is a little gem of delicacy. The slow developping of a relationship follows seasons and fleeting moments to arrive at very moving conclusion. Thank you so much romy86 for sharing this wonderful book!
This made a little hop to central Switzerland. It will have to admire the strange weather here in the Alps for a bit as it slides in behind a few other rings and I am busy with end of school year work. I'll try to get to it as soon as I can - holidays approach so it should be possible soon. Thanks for sending (and for the nice card) and thanks for making this available.
At first I thought this was an anthology, and was a bit disappointed because I find short stories often tend to keep one at arm's length.
Despite the extreme foreigness of the setting (for me)and the strangeness of the characters and atmosphere, as hinted at in the title, by the end of this short book one emerges as one does from a hot bath, every pore touched, covered with a sheen of heat. Indeed, I think back to a hot bath experience in Kyoto, where even the air is somehow different. I found myself very moved by the story and am grateful for the opportunity of reading it. I have the next address and will try to post it on very soon. Thank you for making it available.

Fortunately Romy86 reminded me about this ring which I read just before leaving on summer holidays... I didn't make it to the post office and so this settled in for a long sleep. Other books drifted on top of it, and I forgot all about sending it, although I haven't forgotten the story.
Thanks so much for making this available and sorry about keeping it so long!
Enjoy!

The book arrived here in the mail today (quite like this quirky cover picture). I had almost forgotten about this as well so it was lovely surprise. Thanks very much for sending and for your nice card penelopewanders! I look forward to reading this.
Thanks a lot for organising the bookring romy86!

I enjoyed this story very much. The writing has a sort of quietness about it, which I like and it captures the atmosphere nicely. The descriptions of the food makes me want to go try it myself (and would love to go mushroom hunting).
I am glad I was not reading this in a public place when I came near the ending.. it was very touching, and left me feeling both sad and happy at the same time (which doesn't happen very often).
Thanks for sharing this lovely book romy86.
The book is on its way to Fifna. Enjoy! :)

Arrived safely, thank you Tsjara! It will be my next read after my current book.
This was a lovely story. Slow-paced, nicely written, very enjoyable - thank you for sharing, romy86! The book is on its way to azuki.
On its way to azuki!
Book has arrived last week but with the holiday and visiting guests I didn't get to sit down and do my BC journaling till now.
Lovely cover! And thanks Fifna for the beautiful postcard.

There is a je ne sais pas about Japanese fiction that makes it different from American fiction, that it just feels very Japanese.
It's a charming story, very unusual from the average love story (at least the average American romance I've read). I do agree that all the mention of bar food makes me want to visit a Japanese izakaya, and I found this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oden provides some description of the food mentioned in the book. The original title is Sensei (Teacher)'s briefcase, which I feel is a more appropriate title for the book, but I imagine likely not as marketable as the current title.
Will send this on as soon as I received the next reader's address.

Packing this to mail back to romy86. Thanks again for sharing this lovely book!
Returned safely home today. Thank you, Azuki, for posting it back.
Generally I would do a ray rather than a ring, but I loved this so much, I know I will be rereading it.
I also already have someone (non bookcrosser) wishing to borrow it next.
Thanks again to all who took part, so glad it was enjoyed by so many!
