Following Derrick and Gal - a latterday Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer - through an eventful 24 hours, Des Dillon's first novel is a classic account of childhood. As essential now as when it was first published. Me and Ma Gal is a hugely entertaining, vividly imagined story of an innocence that is as short-lived as it is vulnerable.

Quite a great novel of boyhood, I enjoyed reading it - though written in (the scottish?) spoken language was a bit challenging for a finnish reader...
