Good mystery that follows Yorkshire Inspector Banks as he tries to determine the killer in 2 separate crimes. The story opens with the murder of a paraplegic woman who's been checked out of a care home, and abandoned in her chair, throat cut, at the top of a cliff. A complex story slowly unravels involving two separate incidents of sexual torture and confinement. There seems to be a subplot about binge drinking. In one case, it leads to the murder of a young student urinating in a maze of alleys behind a pub; in a parallel situation, a female detective gets herself in a tight situation with a younger man she picks up after overdoing it on a night out with a friend.
