This book was left at the Ambler train station yesterday by my friend Hereamisendme. I found it this morning on my way to work. I will keep this one and mark it TBR. It's hard to believe that in all the reading I've done in my lifetime, I've never read this classic! I've read other Bronte novels, but not this one.
Thanks for the fun, Hereamisendme!

This book took a lot of perseverance for me to get through. I read it over many, many, many months. I just couldn't get interested in it, for some reason. I found that after 20 minutes or so of reading it, I wanted to put it down.
I'm not sure what the problem was, exactly. A classic about an oppressed English girl who becomes a governess should be right up my alley, but somehow I didn't really relate to Jane and especially to her relationship with Rochester, so the book simply didn't hold my interest.
Clearly, I am in the minority, as this is a beloved novel that is seemingly universally enjoyed!

Description from Amazon:
"A novel of intense power and intrigue, Jane Eyre has dazzled generations of readers with its depiction of a woman's quest for freedom. Having grown up an orphan in the home of her cruel aunt and at a harsh charity school, Jane Eyre becomes an independent and spirited survivor--qualities that serve her well as governess at Thornfield Hall. But when she finds love with her sardonic employer, Rochester, the discovery of his terrible secret forces her to make a choice. Should she stay with him whatever the consequences or follow her convictions, even if it means leaving her beloved?"
