I resisted reading Harry Porter
I skipped over Adrian Mole
I shunned LOR
but got caught by Neil Gaiman's
Coraline!

Came home today to find book has finally arrived. Started reading at 9.13pm and finished it at 11.45pm!

A good read, wished my two gurls could have a go too;
I shall certainly hunt for my own copy!

Thanks Pricsilla aka Cicakgirl for introducing this book to me. So on it goes on its long journey.

What a very scary children's story. An excellent story as I expect from Neil Gaiman.

Thankyou cicakgirl. I'll send this off to symphonicca as soon as I receive an address. Posted 25/11/5.

Hey all! Just recieved this book in the mail! Thanks for sending it along catsalive (again... We seem to be next to each other in a few bookrays!), and will get to this soon. I am just finishing up one bookray, and then have one more before getting to this. But as it looks like a quick read, I don't anticipate holding on to this too long. Thanks for sharing! Will journal more when I am through!

Well that was creepy. :)

I love Gaiman's writing, and his kids book is no exception. However, I don't know what age would be appropriate to read this book. I usually read in bed, and slept with the light on a few times while reading this book!! eek! (won't get into the details for the sake of future readers.... suffice it to say i will never again hear scratching and scraping on the floor and not jump a little....)

Loved the message about facing fears and pushing past them in order to do what is good and right; that familiarity doesn't always mean safe; that sometimes the grass isn't greener on the other side; and to use your intiution and feel when something isn't jiving, and you need to move on.

I am very happy to have read this book. Will pass it along to the next in line as soon as I get ther address. Thanks for the opportunity!

Yippee!! I've really been looking forward to this one. Everyone in our family is a Neil Gaiman fan and my 10 year old actually read this book in school last year. I am going to be sitting around while my husband undergoes elbow surgery tomorrow so I'll be sure to take this along for the wait. Thanks for sharing everyone!

What a great little book! My son really enjoyed it when he read it last year and has spent the day rereading. Coraline was a clever and brave heroine and I love that Neil Gaiman wrote this book for his daughters. I may have to purchase a copy for my younger kids to read - I'm sure they'll enjoy it in a couple of years.

What a great little book! I have always loved Neil Gaiman's adult books and this one intended for a younger audience is just as enjoyable. Spooky and gothic, scary and with Gaiman's touch of the absurd. And some great lines too - "Coraline wondered why so few of the adults she had met made any sense. She sometimes wondered who they thought they were talking to." But Gaiman certainly understands who is is talking to and I can imagine this book would have scared the willys out of me at younger age. But the lessons of the book are great and not thown in your face like some young adult books do. Coraline's persistence in protecting those she loves and in the end appreciating who she is make this a good read for all ages. Sending on to the next person as soon as I have an address.
