I am still half way through this massive book which depicts the journey of the writer (written in first POV) to the legendary Soul Mountain. Along the way, Gao portraits fellow wanderers, farmers and the colorful people he meets. Everything started when the author was in the train heading somewhere, and a fellow passenger next to him mentioned he was going to LingShan (Soul Mountain). Scrawling the map onto a piece of cardboard, the author starts out to this place.

It's a gorgeous book as its wonderfully translated and have a flowing poetic narrative voice. I look forward to finish it when I have the time.
