Picked this up recently at Half-Price Books in Cedar Rapids.

Like all the other books I've read by this author, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't part of a series like many of his others (such as Easy Rawlins or Socrates Fortlow) but was chock full of good stuff about the blues and living in the south.
"RL" is a reference to none other than Robert Johnson, and has usual, the stories surrounding him are different all the time.

I must also say that on another level I could definitely relate to the main character's getting cancer, and going for radiation and chemo treatments (been there, done that!). So I guess I understand the blues a little better myself now, too......
