In Graverobbers Wanted (No Experience Necessary), he took a job diggig up a shallow grave.

It turned out badly.

In Single White Psychopath Seeks Same, he took a job as a bodyguard at a seance.

It turned out worse.

But now, meet the new, improved Andrew Mayhem. He has a real job. He's a better father and husband. And he's vowed to quit accepting money from strange women in coffee shops to perform tasks that go terribly, terribly wrong.

This time he's just taking a relaxing camping trip with his family and best friend. No shortcuts. The gas tank is full. The sinister warning of the crazy old man is taken seriously.

Unfortunately, when you're Andrew Mayhem, you just can't help being attacked by a group of savage killers bent on inflicting ghastly torture and bringing horrific death. Relentlessly pursued through a booby-trapped forest, it's one crisis after another as Andrew fights to protect his family, loses a body part or two, and faces the single darkest moment of his entire life. --Synopsis from the back of the book

The third in the Andrew Mayhem series, I wasn't as impressed with this book as I was the other two. There was a lot more gore, psychopathy, and disturbing concepts that make me wonder just what the heck is going on in Strand's mind that he can imagine these types of things. That said, it's still a decent book, and I like that we get Helen's point of view on this escapade. Unfortunately, I have to hope there's not going to be any more of these books, unless Strand can bring back more of the funny and less of the gore. It was odd juxtaposition of humor and horror that made these books so great, but this one is heavy on the horror and very lean on the humor. I wouldn't recommend NOT reading this book, but I would say don't go into it expecting the same level of campy hilarity as there was in the first and, to a lesser degree, the second books.

The final adventures of Andrew Mayhem - the majority of the action takes place about 6 months after his Alaskan adventure has concluded. Andrew has tried to learn his lesson - he's going to get a real job, he's stopped taking money from women for seemingly innocent tasks, and now he's planning a nice family vacation with his wife and kids and Roger and Roger's girlfriend. What could go wrong? Well. when it's Andrew Mayhem, plenty. Helen has some exciting news for him, he thinks Roger's girlfriend could be Satan's spawn, and the old man at the convenient store warns them not to go to the campground. Then things get weird. This is dark and violent - maybe more than the first two in the series - but still has plenty of snarky humor. It is a quick read that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Well done, Mr Strand.

Giving to a friend at work then will make available
