The Bordeaux Betrayal: A Wine Country Mystery (Wine Country Mysteries)
4 journalers for this copy...
This series is pretty good, especially if you are a native of Northern Virginia. You should be able to pick things up, even if this is the first book in the series that you have read, as opposed to the third.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Bringing to the BCinDC meeting at Noodles & Co. Will someone take it home to read? Will it go into SqueakyChu's Little Free Library? Will it come back with me for the Sheraton's OBCZ? We will find out today.
Another of Furball's mysteries that came home with me. I am not a wine person by any stretch of the imagination, but I snapped it up when I recognized Mt. Vernon on the front. Even if I don't like the book, I can foresee a great themed release at Mt. Vernon in my future.
"A book is a mysterious object, I said, and once it floats out into the world, anything can happen. All kinds of mischief can be caused, and there's not a damned thing you can do about it. For better or worse, it's completely out of your control." -- Paul Auster
I took this book with me on my little mini-vacation with my friend, who teaches history, intending to read it next. She had been studying serious history prior to her visits to Williamsburg, Monticello, Montpelier, DC, Mount Vernon, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and Ellis Island and was eager to read something not so heavy. She borrowed this from me since it had Moutn Vernon on the front and she thought it would rest her brain. It ended up going home with her, although she said she would try to remember to send it back so I could read it.

My friend recently returned this book to me. I read this book while home from work sick and enjoyed it enough to stay up a little late finishing it. I liked the local connections (set in Loudon and Fauquier Counties in Virginia, with an opening scene at Mount Vernon) and the mystery was well-written. The characters were interesting enough that I will pick up other books by this author if I come across them. I do not drink wine and must confess to glossing over the wine-making details in the book. I did notice that they were constantly drinking wine (and specifically identifying the type), though, which I found annoying but might not have been as sensitive to if it weren't a wine-based mystery. Would love to see more books about Pepe -- I think a series on his adventures would have me hooked for sure.
Trying to decide what to do with it next.

Thanks for sending to me from Bookstogive's Mystery/Thriller VBB. This looks like a good book and an interesting series. I put the first book in this series, The Merlot Murders, on hold at the library and they have all the others so I can read them in order. I'm weird like that.
My Review: I read the first two books in the series from the library and just finished reading this one. It's a really good book and series. I like the main character Lucie Montgomery, she is flawed and interesting. I loved her grandfather Luc who comes to visit from France. I also like Quinn, he works with Lucie at the winery, they are friends and they seem to have chemistry together. I don't know much about wine making, but that doesn't make a difference in enjoying the book. I plan to check out the other books in this series. This book/author is one I hadn't heard of before I saw it on the Mystery VBB list. Bookcrossing is a wonderful thing.
This book is reserved for: Bookstogive's Mystery/Thriller VBB.
