I do usually enjoy Minette Walters books and this is no exception. The setting is a village in south west England where a group of travellers takes up residence on unregistered land. Their leader, a mysterious figure, has persuaded the group that they will be able to claim ownership. A good plot and an easy read.

I've seen a couple of the TV adaptations of other books by this author, but not read any of her books. It'll be intersting to see whether this is as compelling (and chilling!)

Picked up at Hampshire BC meet-up from nyassa.

Not (quite) as chilling as the couple of TV adaptations I've seen, but certainly as compelling, with an interesting plot and characters I came to care about. I did feel the ending glossed over a few things; it gave me a sense of tidying things up without going into the reasons properly - I'd have liked to know more, for example, about Wolfie's reactions. This is, however, nitpicking and probably due to the identification I felt with the characters.

Thanks, nyassa, I thoroughly enjoyed this.

I am putting it into ShelaghG's crime bookbox.

First I have to apologize for having this book so long after I took it out of the bookbox.
I wasn't very impressed by this book, it was mainly conversation about who knew what & very little action. I think someone has already said it ended very quickly. I read it to the end but I don't know if I'll read any others by Minette Walters.

I'll pass it on to jazz-ee2 who's doing an Animal (Title) Release Challenge.

Picked up from ReetPetite for the Animal Release Challenge - thanks!

Journal Entry 8 by jazz-ee2 from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire United Kingdom on Sunday, September 18, 2005
This book is being released as part of the 'You’re Such an Animal' Release Challenge: during the month of September I have to release at least 20 books with the name of some kind of animal (not human), insect, or reptile in the title of the book into the wild.

If you have found this book, you've made a great catch. Why not journal it to let us know how you found it, then read it and set the animal in it free again?!
