The Wizard's Daughter
2 journalers for this copy...
I am part the way through this one. Moved last year and it was put in box unfinished. Phew-ee, I'm happy to find it again!
I have a few of these unfinished books and have made a commitment to finish them by the
end of the year.
At page 282 of 325. Shall journal again shortly.
Just had fun digging through my files and came across a few neat quotes.
Moving aimlessly around her room in search of something to occupy her mind, she picked up her writing portfolio and sat down with it on her lap. She was sorry she had not kept a diary, as so many young ladies did; at least she would have more interesting things to write about than who danced with whom at the last ball, and what color ribbons she had selected for her new gown. But perhaps, she reflected, the only people who have time to write in their diaries are the ones to whom nothing ever happens. p245
His chair gave off a perfect fusillade of creaks. p83
Mrs. Jay had always told her that one of her worst faults was procrastination. "You seem to think if you postpone a difficulty long enough, it will disappear," she had remarked sarcastically. "It is much more likely, Marianne, that the difficulty will grow larger and less amenable to a solution." p149

Finished this one last night. I must admit that I lost enjoyment in reading it due to the big time lag between reading the first part and the second. With luck, the next reader will have a more pleasurable experience.
This is off to New Jerssy. Stay safe and warm, little book.
