I've bought this one as a gift for another BCer - which is very noble of me because it's one I'd love to keep for myself!

It's going in the post to-morrow.

Many thanks for this book, received from my NSSFC, and opened on Christmas Day. I've just finished Over Hill and Dale by the same author, which I'll send on a mini-ring asap. Looking forward to reading this, thanks Jalna, I appreciate your nobility :)

I really enjoyed this book and will look out for the "pre-quel" and any others by this author. It is an amusing account of the life and work of a school inspector who lives in the Yorkshire Dales. It is especially relevant to me as I volunteer as a helper at a local primary school. I loved the descriptions of the nativity play and other productions by the various children being "inspected".

I am reserving the book for my friend Audrey and then will release it once she has read it.

I enjoyed the quote from Lloyd George "The Welsh have a passion for education and the English have no particular objection to it"!
