Until now I have not really enjoyed any book by Mishima. This was until now the most readable, but I still would not rave about it. The story is very simple and I guess it really should be read in Japanese. I don't think it survived translation very well.
The characters, as in other Mishima books, seem not to develop much at all, and don't stray far from very traditional patterns.
